Tips SHIPS*AMS
Anytime there has been an amendment done on a Bill
of Lading and then saved, the B/L must then be retransmitted
to USCS. Acommon mistake is to make the changes tot
he B/L but never resend this information. A simple
way to check on this is to go to the Bill of Lading
Quick Lookup screen. You will see two (three if amended)
entries along the middle left hand side of the screen
regarding the B/L transmission. The first is the "Created"
date. The second would be the "Edited" date
(if any amendments were done), and the last entry
would be the "Submitted" date. If any amendments
were done, the submitted date should be the same as
or later than the "Edited" date. If this
is not the case, then the B/L has not been submitted
to USCS after being amended.
Special
Bill *NOTICE*
This notice is to inform the Working Group of a change
in the implementation date of the Special Bill enhancements
in the Sea Automated Manifest System (AMS). These
enhancements, as agreed to by the Working Group and
Customs and Border Protection (CBP), will provide
a solution to the 24-Hour Rule post implementation
problems that were experienced by the trade and this
agency.
It was announced that the Special
Bill would be moved to production (implemented) on
December 6, 2003. However, testing of the Special
Bill programming with selected trade partners has
identified several problems requiring additional coding
in Sea AMS. Unfortunately, the problems detected cannot
be resolved and adequately tested by the intended
December 6, 2003 production date. CBP now anticipates
that the Sea AMS Special Bill enhancements will move
into production on January 10, 2004, following successful
testing with additional selected trade partners. The
trade also recognizes the need to reschedule the date
and has voiced its agreement.Read
